by Eurydice Mcgaughy

Its an old tradition in some black communities to cook black eye peas and greens for the new year. The black eye peas are for good luck and the greens are for money. As this New Years rolls in Soul House Retreat and all its counterparts(Fever's Grill Juice Bar Market & Pink Vulva & Blaclunar23 Want to send out positive vibes and a prosperity manifestation.

Remember health is wealth and food is medicine! With that being said I would like to thank one of our great ancestors George Washington Carver for bringing the black eye pea to the sustanence forefront.

Carver was an African-American scientist, botanist, educator, and inventor. The exact day and year of his birth are unknown, but he is believed to have been born into a slave family in Missouri, in the early 1860’s. He published 44 bulletins on the cultivation and use of a range of these crops, and a number of them contained recipes. Bulletin No. 13 How to Cook the Cow Pea, published in 1908
